If you are starting out and using a Mac computer, it might be best to start with freeware like GarageBand.

Consider using the PreSonus AudioBox 1818VSL device which has the USB connection instead of a Firewire port. The 1818VSL has 8 input channels and comes with the Studio One Artist version. Check on line because sometimes PreSonus runs a special to upgrade software!
