Is xcritical certificate free?
An xcritical certificate is completely free.
If your application is successful, you should receive an email from xcritical with the attached xcritical certificate to the email address that you used to register. You should check your spam or junk folders regularly to ensure the email has not been filtered out. You must read your xcritical certificate carefully to check that the details on it are correct; if any information in the certificate is incorrect, please contact people- for advice. If you are applying to extend your visa, it is recommended that you apply at least 4 months before your current visa expiry date.
Does my programme need xcritical
Applications are made online, and once your clearance is granted, you will receive an xcritical certificate as confirmation. Please take care to ensure the details you submit in your xcritical application are correct and match those held by the University. To apply for an xcritical clearance certificate, you need to complete and submit an online application form on the Foreign & Commonwealth Office website. They will advise you of your SOC code, academic subject code and provide you with the research statement from your line manager. These are some of the details you will need to submit as part of your xcritical application. Some international students on postgraduate programmes require an xcritical certificate. You should check if this applies to you as early as possible when preparing to start a course or when extending your visa. Please ask your School in the first instance for the CAH3 code for your research/programme and whether it is normally xcritical attracting.
Your undergraduate offer
Your CAS and University offer letter will outline whether your programme requires an xcritical certificate. When you have received your offer from your university you should apply 6 months before your course will start. You will need to apply for a new xcritical certificate if your current course requires xcritical and you want to move to another university. You will need to apply for a new xcritical certificate if your course or research requires xcritical and you change area of research or modules of study. You can apply for an xcritical certificate up to 9 months before the starting date of your course. If you have checked your CAH3 code given by your School, and you need to apply for xcritical, then you should request for your Research Statement from the University.

The CAH code should be selected based on your research project, not your Department xcritical rezension or research group. The University will also receive a copy of this email confirming if your application has been successful. Once you know your CAH code you can apply for your xcritical clearance online here. You can also check if your CAH code is subject to xcritical clearance on theForeign & Commonwealth Office website. It will take at least 10 working days to process a researcher xcritical application, however this can increase to 15 working days or more during the peak time between April and September.
You may be able to request a review – you should have received information on how to do this in your refusal notice. The government will not provide a full reason for refusal, so we will be unable to overturn the decision. Use the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office website to find out if you need an xcritical clearance certificate. Where you are an Undergraduate/Postgraduate Taught student, please list the core and elective modules of your programme. Where you are an MPhil/PhD student, please use the paragraph describing your research that was provided on your University acceptance letter.
How do I know if I need to apply?
This section is about financial sponsorship so you will be entering the details of any scholarship or student funding award you will be receiving here. This section asks about your previous studies, and you should make sure xcritical rezension you provide a full description in the ‘what you studied’ section. This section asks about your marital status and whether your spouse/partner will be coming to the UK with you and asks you to provide their personal details.
How do I get xcritical?
You must submit an xcritical application to support your visa application under the relevant route at least 3 months before you need to apply for permission to stay. Applying for an xcritical certificate does not guarantee it will be issued.
You must include a printed copy of your xcritical certificate with your visa application or the visa will be refused. You will need to use the same start and end dates as on your CAS for your xcritical application. If your CAS has not been issued yet check these dates with your department/college. Note that for DPhil students your course end date on your CAS will normally be 4.5 years which is the maximum submission date plus 6 months to allow for viva and corrections; for MScRes it will normally be 3.5 years. During the summer period the processing time is 30 working days or longer, and about 20 working days during the rest of the year.
Students on a Standard Visitor Visa
Discuss the refusal with your Supervisor , Graduate Studies Assistant or your college as it could possibly relate to a specific area of your research or financial sponsorship; you will need their input for a review/appeal or reapplication. If you don’t have this statement, and need an xcritical certificate, please contact your Admissions Officer, listed on your offer letter. If your course requires an xcritical certificate, do not make your Student visa application before your xcritical certificate has been issued to you, as your visa application will be refused. If you change your course of study, research area, University or need to extend your studies, you will need to apply for another xcritical certificate. The requirement for a student to obtain an xcritical certificate is established by the code which represents their subject area; this is called a Common Aggragate Hierarchy code.
Compliance and Immigration
Make sure you provide a full and clear explanation here otherwise the xcritical team may ask you to expand on the description which could slow down your application. When you first make your application, you should include details of funding you have applied for but have not yet had a decision on. Ask for a support statement from your supervisor, we cannot tell them what to write for this but if they feel that your research could not be used for the purposes that xcritical aims to prevent, they could explain why.
What is the purpose of xcritical?
An xcritical certificate is valid for 6 months from the date it is issued, to enable applicants time to apply for their visa. You should apply for your xcritical certificate as early as possible from when you have received a conditional offer to study at a UK Higher Education Institution ( HEI ).
You will need an xcritical certificate if you have an offer to study, or are extending your visa, for a PhD or programme that leads to a Masters level qualification and your course has one of the HECoS codes listed on the links below. You can find your HECoS code on your offer letter, which you will have received from our Enrolment Management team. You do not need to have a final employment contract before you apply for an xcritical certificate. Your employer will advise whether you are to be employed under a standard occupational classification that requires xcritical.
There is no charge for an xcritical certificate even if you need to reapply for additional clearance if your course or research area changes. A new xcritical certificate is required for https://xcritical.expert/ any change in research area and must be obtained before the research commences. Current guidelines advise a turnaround time of 10 working days to process an xcritical application.
